Second Life

So, I continue to weed out different PLNs that I do not particularly care of. Adding to my list that already has Twitter, Second Life is another web-based program that I have not yet found a liking for. My first experience with SL was difficult. I had a hard time simply moving my avatar around the islands. I was "stuck" on the orientation island, but could not seem to find a way out or figure out how to see what other islands existed. To help solve my problem, I looked on YouTube for some tutorials and also did some Google searches about navigating through SL. Both of these methods helped me to find my way a bit better. I was able to teleport my avatar to ISTE island, where I walked around and read some of the signs posted. I found a calendar of events, but I still faced a major problem--trying to find the actual location of SL sessions. This is basically the point I am at now...Find a session that is held at a time that is convenient for me, in addition to being able to find the actual location of the session. When I plan to attend a session, I will take Dr. Langran's advice--use the mini-map to see where many avatars are located, and go to that location, with the hopes that they are at a SL session. Wish me luck...!
